Your Rights Under UK/EU GDPR

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data processed by African Academy of Neurology (AFAN):

1. Right to Access

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. We will provide this information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

2. Right to Rectification

You have the right to request correction of any inaccurate personal data we hold about you. You can update your account information directly through your account settings.

3. Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten)

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. To request deletion, please contact us at afaneurology.info@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Erasure Request". We will process your request within 30 days.

4. Right to Restriction of Processing

You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances. This means we can retain your data but not process it further.

You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to transmit that data to another controller.

6. Right to Object

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances, including for direct marketing purposes. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.

7. Right to Withdraw Consent

Where we process your personal data based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

8. Automated Decision-Making

You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not currently use automated decision-making in relation to your personal data.

We aim to respond to all legitimate requests within 30 days. In some cases, it may take us longer, and we will notify you if this is the case.

10. Complaints

If you believe that our processing of your personal data infringes your rights under GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). In the EU, you can contact the data protection authority in your country of residence.
